In a recent interview with Game Informer, the now legendary David Hayter talked about the difficult relationship he had with Kojima during the making of the Metal Gear Solid series. The former voice of The Boss or Old Snake, David Hayter, told Game Informer how he was not even supposed to voice act for the third game. Kojima had apparently been wishing for Kurt Russell to play Old Snake; Hayter even had to re-audition for the role he’d played as in the past games due to this problem.
Finally, Konami was able to get Kiefer Sutherland to play as Old Snake for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Hayter hasn’t even played the past two games because in his words it would be ’60 hours of humiliation’. Although even after all the issues and sadness, Hayter truly enjoyed his time playing the voice as one of gaming’s greatest heroes and is happy he was able to be a part of this once in a lifetime chance. We here at Gamer Professionals wish him the best and hope to see more of his work soon.
